The Lessons in this book are focused on the Arduino UNO working with MAX MSP and Jitter though given different pinouts and inputs most Arduino based products will work with the code developed for this book. Pay attention to proper schematics regardless of which microprocessor you are using.
Maxuino will be the new platform running through Standard Firmata.
There is also a short chapter on a web enabled I0-204 IO Bridge used to control things on the world wide web with a work featured by artist Amy Youngs.
I do not recommend the BS2 anymore given the high cost and the more open source nature of the Arduino.
Arduino now has massive amounts of code developed by the open source community, which makes it a superior product.
Additionally, given its open source nature, there are lots of new products all the time and the prices just keep falling.
Arduino UNO (Microcenter has 10$ Arduino Unos R3 though one can often find pre-packaged kits for low $ by searching online.
